Lightweight, comfortable, and easy to put on, the fabric mask covers the nose, mouth and chin for optimal protection and does not interfere with breathing. You can use it repeatedly without it warping. It is held in place on the face thanks to 2 elastics attached to each ear.
The protective fabric masks that we offer are washable. You can machine wash them at 40 ° C or 60 ° without any problem for 30 minutes according to AFNOR recommendations for perfect disinfection.
If the protective fabric mask limits the spread of the coronavirus by protecting the wearer and his entourage from postilions, it does not constitute a medical device. If it is less effective than FFP2 masks, the generalized wearing of the fabric mask on the face helps limit the spread of the virus. This is why it is compulsory to wear a barrier mask in enclosed public places and in certain busy areas of large cities, such as on the banks of the Garonne in Toulouse for example.
How to choose an effective cotton knitted mask?
The major downside to the DIY fabric mask is that it does not go through any testing and approval, so you have no way of knowing if it is an effective fabric mask. If the filtration efficiency of your mask is important to you, we recommend that you opt for a UNS1 or UNS2 approved mask.
Knitted masks are intended for the general public and are not recommended for medical use.
How to use a knitted mask?
In order for the fabric barrier mask to offer you an optimal level of protection, observe the following instructions:
The mask should completely cover the nose, mouth, and chin
A mask must be changed every 3 to 8 hours depending on its use
You must wash your hands before putting on your mask and after taking it off
Then machine wash before next use
Avoid touching the mask while wearing it
Wash your hands regularly with soap or use hydroalcoholic gel
Respect the rules of social distancing and other barrier gestures.
How many times to use the same fabric mask?
You can use your mask several times, however, a large number of washes can affect its filtration efficiency.
Knitted masks sold at Medseka are tested for a number of washes. A mask tested for 50 washes can therefore be used 51 times without its filtration capacity being too degraded. In order not to get lost in the number of washes, a notice is attached with your mask so you can note each wash and know when your mask needs to be renewed.
For a homemade fabric mask, you need to make sure that it is not punctured or torn, and that it does not move when in place. If you notice that it is damaged and that the fabric is degraded, it will be better to change it and not to put it anymore for more safety.
How long do fabric masks keep?
You can keep your cloth mask until you have reached the number of washes it has been tested for if you purchase your cloth mask.
If it is a homemade fabric mask, you should throw it away when it is damaged, warped, or no longer fits properly against the face. Indeed, it will be much less effective and it is better to change it than to run the risk of being contaminated.
